Case Study on Using Omniture for a Video Gaming Customer
The Customer
Our customer is one of the world’s largest publishers of video games. This customer has country specific websites in 18 languages that provide previews of upcoming games, documentations, news, updates, game patches, FAQs, forums etc. In order to generate a buzz about the games, these sites carry pictures, screenshots and videos of game-play for released titles and under development titles.
The Project
- We were asked to analyze the basic stats of visitors to their entire range of web properties within a territory. Our web analysts also had to find out how individual websites and a particular franchise were performing
- We were to continue the existing reporting structure and also extend the reporting of the entire range of content (Brands, Games, Franchise, Site etc) that existed within each territory
- We were to provide answers to questions like, “We launched a new game section yesterday! How many visitors came? What and how much did they see?
- We were also asked to conduct a Path Analysis to provide information on top entry and exit pages, top visited pages, most popular games and downloads and the top keywords used
The Process
- Our customer was using Omniture Site Catalyst to track their websites
- We leveraged its inherent capabilities to give them the information they required to make business decisions
- We used Omniture’s Data Warehouse tools to segment data and prepare reports on a site-to-site basis by deriving data from a single reporting suite
- We conducted reporting and analysis on a site and country basis
The Results
- We were able to provide the customer with critical information that they could use for business decision making. Our professional services helped them to get vital information about their websites
- Since our customer’s game sites were updated frequently, we provided ad hoc reports about traffic patterns and trends, what’s fading in and what’s fading out, etc
- We provided the customer with real answers for real questions across multiple territories and multiple content grouping in many different languages
- We provided timely and vital insights on a quick turnaround basis to help our customer in business decision making
