Internal search is the online equivalent of a potential customer walking into your shop and asking for something. The visitor might be looking for a service, a product or simply has a question. If website is an integral part of your business, you need to understand what visitor is searching for, what they are finding and where they after searching. We offer the service of search analytics to help you answer these questions.

More Information

Search analytics service involves the following:

1. Setting up the framework

We would work with your web designer to implement the right technology to track the search terms. The simplest way to do this is to carry the search terms in the URL and analyzing the log files for data. If you are using a hosted web analytics tool, we can also use the same for our analysis. If that’s not possible, we would use our tools to analyze the data.

2. Weekly reporting

We would on a weekly basis measure the search data and send you the report. Our report would typically reflect the following:
  • Search terms used and the frequency
  • Percentage of people using search
  • Pages visited from search results
  • Pages that lead to search
  • Number of search result pages seen by visitor
  • Search terms that produced no results
  • Search terms that lead to possible conversion (the goal could be purchasing, inquiring, registering, etc)

Apart from the basic numbers, we also look at navigation architecture based on search analysis. Search analysis can throw light on the effectiveness of navigation. Please note that the extent of data that we study would depend on the way the search is implemented.
